Mosome's eyes opened, she looked up and she could see clearly, light was around her for once. As her eyes adjusted, she stared up at the ceiling of the room she was in. It was stone, as well as the walls, giving the room a mid evil look. There was a plate of food and a glass of water on the nightstand beside her bed, and she drank and ate so fast she forgot if she chewed or not. She could think straight, and was able to block out meaningless thoughts of other people or of her own mind.

A pale hand literally came through the door soundlessly, it stuck out and above it a head phased through the door. Mosome smiled at the familiar face, relieved to finally be in a place she knew was safe, "Hi Shadow."

Her brother completely walked through the door, and leaned against a wall, "Took you long enough to wake up." he rolled his eyes, not going to admit he'd actually been worried about her.

"Yeah yeah, whatever. How long have I been out?" She asked, noticing her reflection in a mirror across the room. She was no longer bruised or cut, but her clothes were torn and tattered. She looked like a ragamuffin.

"About a week." Shadow shrugged.

"Seriously. How long was I out?" She raised an eyebrow, knowing he was pulling her leg.

"You'd been missing for 2 weeks. I found you yesterday." Shadow replied, looking at the orange light of dusk pouring into the room through the window. "You heal faster than I thought you did."

"I get that a lot." She reached for her belt, only now realizing she didn't have it anymore because of the Kishin.

"Oh and I found your belt and pouch. It's in the nightstand drawer." Shadow said after noticing she was about to panic.

She quickly grabbed it and put it around her waist, feeling better knowing it was there, "Well I'm heading out."

"Where to?" Her brother raised an eyebrow, his red eyes narrowing slightly.

"Death city. They probably think I'm dead." She turned around and walked to the window, stepping onto the sill and crouching before looking down at the near 10 story drop. She looked over her shoulder and muttered, "Thanks for not letting me die." before she leaped out, disappearing into a wisp of black smoke just before she would hit the ground.

Shadow watched the window for a moment before going back to what ever he was doing previously.

Mosome appeared outside the school, standing on the steps and looking out onto the city. It was clean by now, everything had returned to normal it seemed. The only difference was the field off to the side of the city was completely destroyed, it looked like a crater from a meteorite that had hit. That must be where everything happened... She thought.

She turned around, and received the shock of her life. There she was, standing directly in front of herself. Her eyes widened, and she leaped back, landing carefully on the edge of a step, "Who are you?!" She demanded an answer.

Her doppelganger simply smiled, "Oh dear Mosome, you don't recognize me?" Then she transformed into the blond bitch who tortured the telepath. "Really Mosome, I would think someone as clever as you would have realized my existence among her friends thoughts."

Mosome's black eyes narrowed, and she sent an exploding blast of energy at the witch, who quickly dodged and shot a vector arrow at the telepath. Mosome ducked under it and she leaped at Medusa, tackling and pinning her. But the witch was clever as well, she transformed into Mosome again and the two of them fought with equal strengths.

A scream came from the side of their fight, Tsubaki was watching with wide eyes at the identical girls, having no clue what was going on. Black Star of course heard her scream and he ran out, followed by Soul, Kid, Liz and Patty.

Everyone's jaw dropped.

Medusa pinned Mosome to the ground, and yelled at Kid and Black Star, "Don't just stand there! Help me! She's an impostor!!"

Mosome's eyes widened, and she shot a blast of dark energy directly through Medusa's torso, sending splintering shocks through the witch, who buckled over to her hands and knees.

Before she could think, a shot from Kid's weapons hit Mosome directly in the forehead. The telepath fell backwards, but did a back hand spring and landed on her feet, "Wait! I'm not the impostor! I'm the real Mosome! That's Medusa!!" She pointed at the other girl who looked exactly like her.

Black Star's voice came from behind Mosome, "Pfft, yeah, like we'll fall for that." He tried jamming his elbow into the back of her neck, but the telepath's reflexes were to fast and she turned around and slapped him on the back of his head, slamming him into the ground face first, "Believe me now!?"

Soul was trying to help Medusa up, thinking she really was Mosome. Medusa took his hand and stood, "Don't believe her. That bitch tortured me for days." Mosome could see the triumphant smirk in the witch's eyes.

Mosome narrowed her eyes, blocking another attack from Kid and dodging an attack from Black Star, "Oh yeah? If your the real Mosome, then lets see you wield Soul in his scythe form." She challenged.

That caught Medusa off guard, and for a second she was thrown off in her act, but quickly regained her composer, "You're a real bitch sometimes aren't you." She suddenly lunged for Mosome, tackling her with full force and the two of them started throwing fists at each other again until Mosome managed to kick the witch in the gut and knock the breath from her.

As soon as Medusa paused to catch her breath, Black Star grabbed Mosome from behind and held her in place so Kid and Soul could aid Medusa. Then it clicked.

Medusa wasn't telepathic.

Mosome stopped struggling against Black Star's grip, and she closed her eyes concentrating on Soul, Black Star, Tsubaki, Liz, Patty and Kid's minds. I'm telling you, the one your trying to help isn't the real me. I am. I swear!

Everyone froze, and looked at Mosome, everyone backing away from Medusa and Mosome. Medusa frowned, not liking that they figured it out. She stood up, becoming her true form once again, "Well it's been fun playing with all of you, but I suppose now I have no choice but to surrender." She put her hands in the air, "I give up."

Everyone surrounded her, ready to strike, until Kid let out an agonized yell, and fell to his knees as a black serpent clung to his calf mussel. Everyone looked in his direction, and Medusa vanished.

Mosome ran over to Kid, yanking the snake off of him and she squished its head in her palm, tossing its body over her shoulder as she tore off a piece of her shirt and wrapped it tight around Kid's leg to delay the venom. Kid was starting to go into shock, then a seizure began.

Mosome turned around and yelled at Black Star and Tsubaki, "DON'T JUST STAND THERE! GET HELP DAMMIT!" she wasn't going to lose him, for some reason, she couldn't bare life without him.

Black Star had turned and ran into the building quickly, while Tsubaki sank to the ground still trying to understand what just happened, like pretty much everyone else, even Mosome herself.

Mosome wasn't aware of Stine running over, she wasn't aware of the cloudy sky suddenly letting loose and rain pouring down on top of them. It was only her and her dying friend, and tears formed in her eyes. Kid... If you can hear me, please... Please don't leave me...

Hours later, Kid was in the infirmary on a white bed in critical condition. Stine's quick thinking had kept him alive. Lord Death was sitting at his son's bed side, and Mosome was leaned against a wall across the room looking down.

It'd been silent for a while, until Mosome spoke up, "Let him know once he wakes up that I'll be out of town for a while..."

The shinigami looked at her and tilted his head, "Where will you go?"

"I'll know when I get there. But for now... I guess it'll just be better if I wasn't around." She replied.

"You blame yourself hmm..? You couldn't have known what would happen. It's the human part of you that is telling you that. It's perfectly fine that you feel that way, but it is no reason for you to simply leave."

"No. It isn't fine that I didn't know what would happen. I'm the most powerful telepath in existence, I'm Mosome the most clever bitch to ever live. I'm the three year old who killed her own parents when they tried to kill me. But I'm also Mosome the confused teenage girl who has too much to handle. The human part of me is where emotion comes from, and I can't understand any of them. Because of that, I'm leaving. But not forever." she muttered.

The shinigami stood up and put a hand on her shoulder, "If that's how you feel you should deal with your problems, then who am I to stop you? I'm going to get some lunch. Would you mind keeping watch?"

"No sir." She replied, and the shinigami walked out. She walked over to Kid, and sat in Lord Death's previous chair, watching Kid's relaxed face. Hey Kid... I don't know why I feel so upset, I know you'll be okay.. I just.. I can't stay. I'll be back though, I promise. she lightly kissed his forehead without realizing it, and was suddenly thankful the room was empty. She looked around, and disappeared into her wispy smokey aura just before Shinigami-sama walked in with his food.




Mosome appeared in the forest, sitting on a tree branch and staring at the sky, I'll be back. I promise everyone, This isn't goodbye.
